Cahoon Farms Hampshire flock, located just outside of Orangeville, IL,
was founded in 1986. “The Boyz from Illinois”, Chad, Chris and
Cory
Cahoon, with the help of their parents Craig and JoAnn, originally
started the flock as a 4-H project. In the early years Cahoon
Farms consisted of two purebred flocks. They consisted of a flock
of Hampshires, as well as a flock of Suffolks. Cahoon farms had
experienced success in both breeds. However, in order to fully
concentrate our efforts on the Hampshires, in 1992 the Suffolk flock
was dispersed.
Cahoon Farms currently maintains a flock of thirty-five white pedigreed
brood ewes. The Brood ewe flock is completely Codon tested QR or
RR. Over the years we have used artificial insemination to
improve our flock.
We have exhibited at the Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa state fairs, as
well as the NAILE in Louisville, KY. We have offered sheep for
sale at the Ohio Showcase Hampshire Sale, Corn Belt Hampshire Sale,
Midwest Stud Ram Sale, Wisconsin Invitational and Illini All Breeds
Sale.
Cahoon Farms is currently owned and managed by Chad and Chris
Cahoon. We strive to raise structurally correct sheep that are
productive in our flock as well as for others, while still being
competitive in the show ring.
